Thursday, March 18th update

Remember the meeting is tomorrow night at the bowling alley. We need a big turnout at this meeting for some very important discussions that involve every member of this local. We will be discussing our health and welfare situation as well as the Local 5 Constitution and Bylaws at this meeting so you all need to participate in this very important process.
As a reminder, Brother Ron Vicent is running in the L.A. Marathon and we would like for anyone who can afford it in these hard economic times to pledge $2 for every mile that Ron runs or donate $50. The money will all go into the "Waldo" fund to help brother and sister members in need. To learn more about the upcoming L.A. Marathon you can check out their web site at www.lamarathon.com We will also make an announcement at Fridays meeting about Ron Vicent running in the L.A. Marathon and we will be accepting donations to put into the "Waldo" fund at the meeting. If you don't have the money at the meeting, we will be happy to accept your pledge.
As of now, the white car is still for sale for $7,000 O.B.O. so if anyone is interested, please make an offer on the car. It is in good condition with approximately 72,000 miles on it all driven by a little old man.
We have some work coming up soon at Disney but we do not have specific details yet on that work.
Work in Canada is still going to happen and it looks like April before it breaks.
The job in Hawaii is still supposed to happen in early April if

The job in Hawaii is still supposed to happen in early April if not sooner so we should know more about that job late Monday.
If you are interested in going to New York to the Nine Mile outage, you need to call the hall and have your name added to the list.
Also, anyone interested in going to Callaway near Jefferson City, Mo. needs to have your name added to that list.

March 17th Update

We will be using this page for Video Blogs as well as written news articles.
For all you Nuke workers, there is an outage which will be hiring within three weeks at Nine Mile Nuclear Plant which is located in Syracuse Territory. They will be hiring approximately 90 insulators for this outage.
There is an outage at Callaway Nuclear Plant in Saint Louis Territory which is forming a list now for the outage which is a month away.
Anyone who is interested in working at one of these outages needs to call our hall and have your name put on the list of the outage you want to work on.
As we all know, even if you are told the job you want is filled, No job is filled until just before the hire date. There is always a good chance of people canceling for one reason or another. When that happens, spots open up so don't give up until the call out happens and you don't get the call. This advice comes from a thirty year nuclear worker who has been on both ends of the call out scenario as the one waiting for an opening and the one placing the call out.
The job in Idaho has been pushed back indefinitely so you should probably set your sites else were.
As of now, there is no news on the job in Hawaii.
It seems the hold up in Canada is a shortage of electricians to install the electric tracing on some of the pipes so they are not ready for a full push on that job. We will update this report as soon as we get word from Local 110 in Edmonton.
I am having difficulty convincing Fred to do a video blog so any one who would like to see your business manager telling you like it is needs to let him know how you feel about it. As it is now, we are the only local in the international with the ability to do video blogs.
